Special Effects (RIP)

Special Effects, born on the 15th May 2006, was awarded "Premium" at his Oldenburg Verband (North America) foal inspection.  Special Effects and all his siblings have been awarded "Premium Foal" status, with the Oldenburg judges commenting on their superb movement and correct conformation.  Special Effects is the offspring of Sempatico M, who is one of only two homozygous coloured stallions in the world, who are life time approved by the Oldenburg Society for breeding.

Special Effects is a modern, elegant stallion with very correct conformation, exceptional movement and a wonderful temperament.  He stands high off the ground on long correct legs and has a long striding walk, a rhythmic trot and a powerful canter.

Special Effects is a DNA tested homozygous Tobiano Oldenburg stallion, who will produce 100% colour in his offspring.  His first foal, Speciality, is an elegant, beautifully marked filly and more of his offspring will be on the ground in 2010.  He is registered with the South African Warmblood Society.  Special Effects was awarded Reserve Champion Warmblood Stallion at Horse of the Year 2010.

Breeding Lines

Special Effect's pedigree boasts many successful and award-winning Warmblood Sports Horses.  His sire, Sempatico M, as a foal, was the German National ZfDP Champion.  Sempatico completed his 30-day test at Prussendorf (3rd in Dressage, and 8th in Jumping) and was sixth in Dressage and eleventh overall (out of 30 stallions) at his 70-day test.  He is successfully competing in Dressage in the United States.  Sempatico M is by the Oldenburg approved coloured stallion Semper, who is out of Sandro.  Sandro is the sire of Sandro Hit and Sandro Song and has sired 36 approved sons, 308 approved mares and 27 State Premium mares.

Semper's dam, Imago is an Elite Preferent KWPN mare, by Samber, who is also the sire of Special Effects's dam, Abracadabra.  Samber passed his 100-day performance test in Holland, receiving a rare 10 for temperament and trainability, with an overall score of 160.2 and an "A" Certificate. During his successful career, Samber reached Grand Prix level in Dressage and Z level in showjumping.  Samber has been in the top 15 for producing dressage horses in Holland (out of over 400 stallions) and in the top 100 for producing jumpers.  Samber's dam, Tina, a Ster Preferent mare has produced amongst others, international showjumpers Anton and Dustin as well as several Keur fillies.  Sempatico's dam line is just as impressive - Indian Dream is a Verband Premium mare who is by the Dutch stallion Ico, out of Keur Preferent KWPN stallion, Marco Polo.

Special Effect's dam, Abracadabra is a Premium Oldenburg mare out of Art Deco.  Art Deco is a KWPN Elite stallion, and has earned three prestigious Ster awards.  A top sports horse, he has successfully competed in Grand Prix Dressage, Hunting, Eventing and Jumping.  He was the first coloured stallion in the world approved for breeding by the Oldenburg Verband in 1993.  Art Deco's dam, Zorba is a Ster Preferent mare.
